McDonald’s wins top honours at Marketing Excellence Awards 2019 Malaysia's image'

McDonald’s Malaysia was named the “Marketer of the Year” at the Marketing Excellence Awards 2019 Malaysia having claimed an astounding 13 gold awards, nine silvers and two bronze trophies.

Seven of the brand’s campaigns earned them first place, but it was the “Big Mac Tik Tok Challenge” that really stood out to the judges securing five of the team’s 13 gold titles in Excellence in Advertising, Excellence in Brand Strategy, Excellence in Customer Engagement, Excellence in Digital Marketing and Excellence in Marketing to a Specific Audience. Its other standout campaigns included “Spicy Drama, Spicy Korean Burger”; “Taking Twitter by Storm”; “Got a Problem? Drive-thru Je Lah”; “McD Elections 2019”; “The Cure for Bangsar-itis” and “Big Beefy Bites”.

Coming in second place with all the ‘threes’ was RHB Bank which walked away with three gold, three silver and three bronze trophies for three of its campaigns, “Becoming Malaysia’s #1 Challenger Bank”; “Awakening the Challenger Within” and “RHB SME Raya Festival Campaign”.

AirAsia and Etika also put in a strong performance coming in a joint third place. Other standout companies include Axiata Digital eCode, Tesco and Shell. View the full list of winners here.

In its seventh year, the Marketing Excellence Awards 2019 were held at the Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara on 16 October. The event saw 400 marketing professionals, from both agencies and brands, present from across Malaysia.

Judged solely by an independent panel of esteemed industry leaders, and updated each year with new categories that cater to the modern marketer, A+M’s Marketing Excellence Awards has become the premier platform for brands to showcase their marketing excellence in campaigns across Malaysia. This year, the awards were judged by 30 senior marketers from leading brands including Carlsberg, Domino’s Pizza, Go-Jek, Hong Leong Bank, IKEA, InterContinental Hotels Group, Malaysia Airlines, Maserati, Sunway Malls and many more.
