KUALA LUMPUR, 15 MAY 2025 – As a brand that places great emphasis on bringing people together, McDonald’s Malaysia continues its meaningful tradition of recognising educators with the ninth edition of its annual nationwide Teacher’s Day campaign. This year’s flagship celebration took place at McDonald’s Bandar Sri Damansara DT, honouring teachers who play a pivotal role in shaping both communities and the nation.

Nearly 200 teachers from Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (C) Damansara, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (C) Desa Jaya 2, Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Chong Hwa and Sri Bestari International School were treated to a special day of appreciation and recognition. The event featured vibrant performances, fun activities, special celebrity appearances, and delicious McDonald’s meals – creating a celebratory atmosphere. Teachers enjoyed special treatment, heartfelt gestures, and an experience designed to celebrate their invaluable contributions.

“At McDonald’s Malaysia, we are more than just a restaurant – we are a place that connects people, families, and communities,” said Dato’ Haji Azmir Jaafar, Managing Director and Local Operating Partner of McDonald’s Malaysia. “Teachers are at the heart of every community, shaping young minds and helping build a better future. That’s why we are committed to celebrating and appreciating them in a very special way that we can.”

This celebration is part of McDonald’s Malaysia’s broader Teacher’s Day campaign, which runs throughout the month of May 2025, celebrating educators from more than 300 schools across the country. Appreciation events are being hosted at selected McDonald’s restaurants or brought directly to schools, with participating restaurants also proactively reaching out to nearby schools to organise their own celebrations – reinforcing the brand’s commitment to giving back to the communities in which it operates.

In a further show of appreciation, McDonald’s Malaysia will also be contributing a total of RM40,000 to selected schools across the nation to support the improvement of staffroom. This initiative is aimed at providing a more comfortable and conducive environment for educators – a small way for McDonald’s Malaysia to give back to those who give so much of themselves every day.

Since launching this initiative in 2017, McDonald’s Malaysia has celebrated Teacher’s Day every year. The brand’s commitment has taken many forms over the years, including the distribution of 500,000 complimentary meal vouchers to educators across Malaysia in 2019 and 2022. Now in its ninth year, the campaign continues to reflect McDonald’s long-standing dedication to uplifting and recognising educators nationwide.

This initiative is part of Program Komuniti @ McDonald’s, the company’s platform for long-term community engagement. Through this programme, McDonald’s Malaysia organises over 10,000 community-focused activities annually, ranging from support for families in need to appreciation events for teachers and frontliners.

“Through celebrations like these, we hope to deliver more than just meals – we want to create delicious feel-good moments that bring communities closer,” added Dato’ Haji Azmir. “Teachers are the heart of every neighbourhood, and we are honoured to play a small part in celebrating their passion and dedication.”
