KUALA LUMPUR, 9 JULY 2026 – At McDonald’s Malaysia, French fries have always been more than just a favourite menu item. They are part of the everyday moments that bring people together. It is a familiar sight among friends and families to have a few packs of French fries poured onto one tray, placed in the middle, and shared by everyone at the table. 

Everyone has their own way of enjoying their fries. Some dip them with Sos Cili Mekdi, some go straight for the crispy bits, some keep a close eye on their side of the tray, and some always reach for “just one more”. 

This International French Fries Day, McDonald’s Malaysia brought those familiar moments to life with ‘Fries From The Skies’, a one-night-only activation at McDonald’s Bukit Bintang that celebrated the return of the fan-favourite Fans Fries Meal. Inspired by the insight that Malaysians have endless ways of enjoying McDonald’s World-Famous Fries, the Fans Fries Meal is available for a limited time as part of the McValue Meal lineup with an XXL serving of fries, XXL Sos Cili Mekdi and a refreshing drink. 

For one night only, the city’s golden triangle became a stage for one of McDonald’s most beloved menu icons, as digital screens around McDonald’s Bukit Bintang built anticipation for the return of the Fans Fries Meal. What began as a playful tribute to the many ways Malaysians enjoy their French fries soon turned into a sky-high celebration, bringing the spirit of the shared tray to life right in the heart of Bukit Bintang.

The highlight of the night saw hundreds of McDonald’s French fries-themed plushies, each attached with a redemption card, raining down onto fans gathered below. As the crowd reached out to catch the plushies, Bukit Bintang came alive with excitement, with fans redeeming a complimentary Fans Fries Meal. The activation transformed an everyday dining ritual into an unforgettable experience that was playful, unexpected and unmistakably McDonald’s.

The return of Fans Fries Meal celebrates that same spirit, only bigger. Available for a limited time, the meal comes with an XXL serving of French fries, a small Coke and XXL Sos Cili Mekdi, giving customers more fries to share, more sauce to dip into, and yes, more reason to protect their side of the tray. ‘Fries From The Skies’ continues McDonald’s Malaysia’s tradition of celebrating its iconic menu moments to life through memorable experiences. 

In 2022, McDonald’s Malaysia transformed the Bukit Bintang crossing into the McDonald’s Fries Crosswalk in collaboration with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL). A year later, McDonald’s Icon Meets Icon lit up the Kuala Lumpur Tower in gold, projecting the world’s tallest French Fry onto one of Malaysia’s most recognisable landmarks. This year, McDonald’s took the celebration even higher, turning the skies above Bukit Bintang into the backdrop for its latest tribute to Malaysians’ love for World-Famous Fries.

The Fans Fries Meal is available at all McDonald’s restaurants nationwide from 10 to 12 July 2026, priced at RM10, while stocks last.
