Media Statement by McDonald's® Malaysia on Incident at McDonald's® DT Outlet in Johor Baru's image'

We have lately received a number of enquiries with respect to a reported incident at a McDonald's® DT outlet in Johor Bahru. With respect to that, we wish to refer to our previous statement on this matter.

It is our stand that the Royal Malaysia Police (“Police”) should be allowed to carry out and conclude their investigation on this matter without any interference. We pledge our continuous cooperation and we reiterate our desire to see the perpetrator of the crime be brought to justice.

On our part, all information will only be shared with the Police as we need to respect the process and procedures as well as the rule of law. We have received queries with respect to our CCTV recording and we would like to reiterate that the recording has already been shared with the Police, at the earliest stage of their investigation. Further, the CCTV equipment in question is currently in the Police’s possession as we have released the CCTV equipment to them to facilitate their investigation. Please be informed that it is against our policy to release the CCTV recording to anyone other than the authorities, to avoid potential abuse as well as to ensure compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010.

Should any members of the public feel that they have any material information, we urge them to share the information with the Police as potential witnesses, to assist the Police in their investigation.
