Maclaren Anak Jumpong recalls his Year 1 and Year 6 teacher, Mr. Silan Anak Nyupeng, who inspired and supported him throughout his primary education. Mr. Silan was passionate about teaching English and Science, and used various methods to make his classes enjoyable and effective. He even provided extra classes for Maclaren and his classmates to ensure they did well in their UPSR exam. Maclaren credits Mr. Silan for his success in UPSR, where he scored straight A’s. His dedication in teaching Science to his students has made the school as one of the top schools for the UPSR result that year. He is also a proud teacher when most of his students scored A in Science and no one failed the subject. Mr. Silan's dedication and inspiration inspired Maclaren to become a Science teacher himself, and he continues to use Mr. Silan's teaching methods to inspire his own students.
