Mr Loke Hon Loy was my teacher for Mathematics in Form 1 and I meet him again later as Additional Mathematics teacher in Form 4 and 5. His dedication and passion for teaching Mathematics and Additional Mathematics have truly inspired my friends and me. I would not manage to reach the level where I am currently reaching without him. The learning period with him is one of the most unforgettable periods in my secondary school. I remember when we first touching Add Maths, most of us never score A but indeed we fail for that subject. Learning Add Maths unlike the Maths, it is really tough for us. His encouragement and motivation telling us not to give up. In my secondary school, although is located in Kuala Lumpur, unlike many school in Kuala Lumpur, most if not all the students who study in that school are not coming from a rich family background nor highly educated background. This phenomenon had made most of the students here don't really like to study especially some tough subject like Add Maths. However, Mr Loke is so different from many other teachers I had met. In fact, most of the school teachers in my school might know that the students are not really interested to learn and therefore they will only focus to teach to those who are interested or talented. However, Mr.Loke is the one that will never give up any of the students even the students are not so smart. I remember he more than willing to spend his time with all of the students who come to him to ask questions about Mathematics. He always provides the intensive class with free of charge during the weekend or after school period for those students who need it and he will always compulsory us who fail the subject to attend. He don't mind to explain again and again until we really understand about the topics. One month before the SPM period, most of us already almost gave up on that subject, but he never gave up us, on the other hand, keep provide the free revision class to us. I remember the revision class provided by him held almost every Saturday during my Form 5 period. Without his dedication, I believe most of us will fail for that subject during the SPM. However, in the end, almost all the students in my class passed that subject with flying colour. Because of the strong foundation, he helps us to establish in Form 5, and this basically makes my life much easier later during my further study. Unfortunately, I don't meet a good Maths teacher like him after Form 5. Even during the STPM period, we will always hope to meet him and hoping for him to teach us, but miracle never happen. Today, I am doing my PhD in the field of Engineering. I don't think I can reach this level without the strong Mathematics Foundation that I established with his guidance. Thank, Mr Loke!
